Our story
From a kitchen in Buenos Aires to Pau Claris 188.
It began in Buenos Aires
Martina’s mother has run a wedding catering business all her life, and Martina and her sister helped out whenever they could. They loved it. One day they decided to start something of their own.
“Todo empezó en Buenos Aires, mi hogar.”Real food, delivered
They teamed up with Flor, a well-known nutritionist in Buenos Aires and an expert in real-food recipes, who helped them put the whole menu together. They launched it as a delivery service: healthy ready meals for every day, and homemade gluten-free sweets.
The pandemic made it a bigger success still: people didn’t want to cook, and whoever tried the food came back for more. When it ended, they opened a café in Buenos Aires.
“La gente quería ponernos cara, quería poder ir a un lugar a disfrutar nuestros platos.”Then came Barcelona
Shortly after the café opened, Martina’s partner was posted to Barcelona, and she came with him. Here, she set out to open Philosopheat too.
The first year was takeaway only, with healthy cakes and a few dishes. Little by little it became what it is today: a café open to all, serving brunch, which was what people here asked for most. And all of it gluten free, as Flor designed the menu from the start, in Buenos Aires and here.
“Desde unos inicios Flor, nuestra nutricionista, quien diseñó tanto el menú de Buenos Aires y de España, decidió hacerlo sin gluten.”
A community
Some people come in almost every day, and some visitors come back every year they’re in Barcelona. We hold get-togethers, such as talks with invited professionals, and inside there’s a corner of like-minded and local brands.
“Además de ser una cafetería, en PhilosophEAT buscamos dar visibilidad a todo tipo de proyectos así como que nuestros comensales se sientan parte de una comunidad.”Renewed
In August 2026 we renewed ourselves. Some things change; the important ones remain. KEEP IT REAL. KEEP IT PHILO.
